👉🏽  POV: You just hit 2 birds with one stone with these ✨healthy lifestyle changes✨

Spoiler alert - both anxiety and high blood pressure are treatable even though there isn’t a universal potion to cure them.
But what is anxiety and how what does that have to do with our blood pressure?

When you experience anxiety to the point where it lingers on even in the absence of anything even remotely anxiety-inducing, or if you feel anxious beyond your mental capacity - that's the sign that this anxiety is a tad more severe than you thought.
This is when it's an anxiety disorder.
And these anxiety disorders are types of mental health conditions.

But when you're anxious, your anxiety symptoms like racing mind and heart rate can lead to other things like breathlessness or even irritable bowel syndrome. Sometimes, severe or recurrent symptoms can lead to frequent episodes of a blood pressure spike.
And this can cause problems with our blood vessels and even our heart.
When you regularly experience intense anxiety, it can raise blood pressure or increase blood pressure even at times showing elevated blood pressure readings than the norm.
This has the potential to cause high blood pressure.

What came first - anxiety disorders or high blood pressure? 🧐

Although anxiety doesn't necessarily develop hypertension, severe or recurrent symptoms of high blood pressure spikes can lead to blood vessel damage and heart diseases.
And if you regularly experience intense anxiety and hypertension it can raise blood pressure or show elevated blood pressure levels.
There are also chances that chronic higher blood pressure can trigger feelings of severe anxiety leading to chronic anxiety disorders.
Basically, this is when you can't seem to control high blood pressure, or when managing stress in a hypertensive crisis situation leads to shortness of breath or panic attacks (read more about what that is - Chronic Anxiety: What It Means and How to Cope).

This is when deep breathing comes in - it helps push pause on these thinking patterns that are headed for destruction.

🍳  Eating patterns

Another way to keep your blood levels from spiking is by eliminating foods that can affect your blood pressure. For example, limiting your salt intake can help control high blood pressure.
Oh, and did you know that foods with Vit-D, selenium, and Omega-3 work to combat mental illnesses? These have anti-inflammatory qualities and are known to work well with mood-related cells in the brain. This means that adding nuts, fish, eggs, and leafy greens to your diet can improve sleep, ability to focus, and overall good mental well-being!
