✨POV✨: You may have known how anxiety and blood pressure spikes can affect the quality of sleep or the kind of appetite you have. But, can both be present at the same time?

Let's start with anxiety. 🥶

Sometimes, anxiety is more layered and deeper than it may seem. It’s more than just a momentary, occasional feeling.

You've probably been an insomniac for ages, and it almost feels like it's your personality now.
Or you've been binge-eating every time you’re stressed - and not just on dedicated Netflix-and-shun-everyone-out days.

You may not know it straight away but chances are that sometimes these can point to anxiety and anxiety does not always show up with a warning sign.
If your anxiety occurs at random moments, and you exhibit physical symptoms of anxiety, like shaking your legs, racing heartbeat, and even hypertension, or in other words if you regularly experience intense anxiety, it becomes an anxiety disorder.
And anxiety disorders indicate declining mental health conditions.

What about high blood pressure? 🥵

The thing about high blood pressure is that it can happen over the years.
And the other thing - you may be oblivious to what's causing these increased blood pressure readings.
It can be lifestyle changes or choices that increase blood pressure. It can also be because of other underlying conditions like obesity or heart disease.
These can make it tough to control high blood pressure and lead to fatigue and cholesterol. And also has the possibility of leading to chronic high blood pressure.

Guess what - it is possible to have one or both conditions. 👀

Sometimes, your severe or recurrent symptoms of anxiety disorders can lead to rapid heartbeat or breathlessness.
This can affect your blood vessels, which can then lead to high blood pressure.
The flip side is also true - living with high blood pressure can be stressful and can lead to anxiety symptoms like tension and extreme stress.

But that being said, anxiety doesn't necessarily develop hypertension (long-term high blood pressure), and neither does it have to be the other way round.
But if you regularly experience intense anxiety, it can raise blood pressure or increase blood pressure even at times showing elevated blood pressure readings than the norm.
